Laura Armentrout

Hi, I'm Laura, and life is hard! Each of us needs help from others to become who we're supposed to be and there is no instruction manual for navigating the obstacles that life throws at us. I believe that coping skills are like muscles, and if we develop and exercise those muscles, we can become more resilient and powerful as agents in our own lives.
I earned my master’s degree from the Virginia Tech Counselor Education program in 2019 and have since served as a licensed School Counselor in Roanoke County. My approach to counseling uses person-centered and strengths-based methodologies to provide trauma-formed and inclusive services to clients, equipping you with practical tools to enhance your overall quality of life.
I am deeply committed to promoting cultural diversity, advocating for women's issues, and affirming LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences. My professional experience spans working with diverse populations, including young children, adolescents, and adults. I find great fulfillment in the counseling process, particularly in establishing connections with individuals and gaining insight into both the beautiful and challenging aspects of their lives.
My primary goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment that empowers you to take the lead as the expert in your own life, enabling you use your skills and personal strengths necessary for achieving a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.
