If you find yourself preparing and bracing for that offensive comment; you regulate your speech, dress, and actions to fit in or be safe; or you navigate how much of your experiences to share for fear that you won’t be heard, or that your story will show different your reality is from others—then I want you to know that you’re not crazy, and you don’t have to go it alone. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who knows what it’s like to be immersed in spaces that don’t culturally or racially reflect me, my identity, or my values. And to live in spaces that reject me as I live into my full identity as a black man, a person of color.
I create a safe space for all people of color to be seen, heard, and able to share stories without the fear of retaliation or dismissal. I use that space to help my clients learn about themselves and their identity, and how to best show up in the world according to their values.
Even if it's small things, the small things add up. I help my clients let go of the pain from anxiety, depression, and trauma that may seem impossible to overcome as people of color in environments that aren't supportive. Trusting someone with your experiences can be a big step. Don’t go through this without support. Call or email to set up an appointment.
